Overview
Colossyan makes video with an AI presenter for training and instructions. The pricing page declares: generation of a clip from a script, custom avatars and voices, interactive clips, automatic translation and export of a course to SCORM.
The input languages are not named on the pages read: there is neither a number nor a list on the pricing page. Only the count of automatic translations per month is given — "15 auto translations/mo" on the free plan, and that is a translation limit, not a list of languages. The document was read; the answer is not in it.
Which platforms it works with
Direct export to social networks the service does not announce. Two ways of taking the result away are named: downloading an MP4 file and exporting a course to SCORM. On the pricing page unlimited MP4 downloading is listed as a Professional feature, and SCORM exports are metered at five a month.
Pricing
There are three plans.
Starter — free, 0 dollars.
Professional — "$59/mo" with annual payment. An additional seat — "$30/mo". The monthly price is not shown on the page, only the annual one, and we will not compute it.
Enterprise — "Let's talk", price by agreement; no limits on minutes or avatars are declared for it.
The cheapest paid step is 59 dollars a month with annual payment. The annual sum as a whole is not given on the page.
What is free
The free plan is called Starter, and its contents are set out verbatim: "20 min/mo with NEO", "15 custom avatars + 3 voices", "10 interactive videos/mo", "15 auto translations/mo" — twenty minutes of generation a month on the NEO model, fifteen custom avatars and three voices, ten interactive clips, fifteen translations.
There is a watermark on the free plan: the pricing page does not write about it directly, but the removal of the mark ("Watermark removal") is named as a Professional feature.
Restrictions
The limit is counted in minutes of generation and differs not only by plan but by model.
Starter — "20 min/mo with NEO".
Professional — "30 min/mo with NEO" and separately "10 min/mo with NEO2", that is two quotas for two models. Plus "Unlimited MP4 video downloads", "5 SCORM exports/mo" and "20 custom avatars + 5 voices".
Enterprise — no limit on minutes or avatars.
Minutes on NEO and minutes on NEO2 are counted separately and do not substitute for one another. About carrying unspent minutes over to the next month nothing is said on the pages read.
Rights to the output
Commercial use is permitted, but with conditions. The terms say verbatim: "Subject to the full payment of fees and compliance with the requirements of the Acceptable Use Policy, upon creation of a piece of Customer Created Content… Colossyan grants Customer a perpetual, limited, revocable, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use Colossyan Material in that generated video".
There are two conditions: full payment and compliance with the acceptable use rules. The licence is called perpetual, limited, non-exclusive, worldwide and royalty-free — and at the same time revocable. The revocability is material: the right to use a clip already made is tied to compliance with the rules. And what is described is a licence to use Colossyan Material inside the generated video; a separate transfer of rights in the clip itself the terms do not describe.
Do they train on your data
No — with one exception named directly. The terms say verbatim: "Colossyan will not use… Customer Materials to train any AI model or algorithm, with the sole exception that… Colossyan may use Recordings to train the AI model that creates and operates Customer's Custom Created Avatar. Such AI model is exclusively used by Colossyan to provide the Custom Created Avatar for Customer".
The exception is delimited by the document itself: recordings are used to train the model that creates and operates your own avatar, and that model is applied exclusively to deliver that avatar to you.
An opt-out mechanism the terms do not describe. In the general case there is nothing to opt out of: training on customer materials is forbidden by the service itself. But there is no described way to opt out of the narrow exception either.
How you earn with it
Commercial use of the result is permitted on the two conditions named above: full payment and compliance with the acceptable use rules. The licence is revocable, and that bears on earning directly.
On the free plan a watermark stays over the clip; its removal is sold from the Professional plan.
What it will not do
Upload someone else's face and voice without consent it will not let you. The terms answer this question directly. The consent is collected by the customer: "It is Customer's sole responsibility to collect all necessary consents, authorisations, licenses and waivers from the relevant actor" — all consents, authorisations and licences are obtained by the customer. The requirement on the consent itself: "the Individual is at least 18-years-old and has validly and freely consented to the use of the Recordings" — the person is no younger than eighteen and has consented validly and freely.
The form of consent the document does not set: the words "verbal" or "written" are not in the text read. In what way the consent is recorded the terms do not specify. Verification of consent the service does not describe either: there is no identity-checking procedure in what was read — the duty is declared, the mechanism of checking it is not.
A separate ban on public figures is likewise not in the terms: a direct rule about the face or voice of a well-known person does not appear in what was read — the general requirement of consent from the person depicted applies. Creating avatars of people without consent is directly forbidden; passing off what AI made as made by a human is forbidden too.
Oblige you to label the clip as AI-made it nevertheless does not. About watermarks, metadata and C2PA nothing is said in the terms: a ban on passing AI off as human and a duty to label the result are not the same thing.
