Uzum
Platform · this deep dive is built from the official pages of the platform itself and of the tools that support it.
Overview
Uzum is an Uzbek digital ecosystem whose core is the Uzum Market marketplace. The company describes itself this way: the largest digital platform in Uzbekistan, bringing together e-commerce and fintech services for individuals and entrepreneurs.
How the ecosystem is arranged matters before you start trading here. Uzum brings together a marketplace, an express delivery service, a classic bank and a digital one, a BNPL service (buy now, pay later), a car-buying platform and an app for entrepreneurs. That is, a seller on Uzum Market works not with a single trading platform but with a harness of logistics, banking and instalment lending, all owned by one group.
Let us state the main limitation of this article at once: the marketplace site uzum.uz and the seller office seller.uzum.uz answered our requests with an "are you a robot" check page (Yandex SmartCaptcha). Everything described below therefore rests on the company's corporate site — the only open official source.
Who's here
The company publishes numbers willingly, and all of them are its own statements, with no counting method and no measurement date given.
On the marketplace itself: more than 200 million product items (SKUs), more than 17 thousand sellers, and "9 out of 10 residents of the country know Uzum Market". That last phrasing is a measure of brand awareness, not of audience: how it was measured the company does not disclose.
On the neighbouring services that affect sales: Uzum Nasiya is the largest instalment service in the country with a 40% share of the BNPL market, and more than 50% of Uzum Market orders are paid through it. This matters for pricing: half of the purchases on the platform are instalment purchases. Uzum Bank holds 13% of Uzbekistan's online payments market and has issued more than 5 million Visa-based cards.
The geography is Uzbekistan. The company speaks of its services being available to 38 million residents of the country, including remote districts and small settlements, and of its own logistics infrastructure across the country. The corporate site works in three languages — Uzbek, Russian and English.
Getting started
The requirements for seller registration, the procedure for document review and the terms of the contract sit in the seller.uzum.uz office, which did not open for us. We will not quote them "from memory".
What is known from the open source: for entrepreneurs there is a separate product — Uzum Business, a platform bringing together all the services of the ecosystem. The company also trains sellers: Uzum Academy runs a supplier preparation programme, and more than 2000 entrepreneurs have gone through it. Having its own school for sellers is an indirect sign that entry to the platform requires preparation rather than just filling in a form.
What you can publish
The requirements for a product listing, the image formats, the restrictions on descriptions and the list of forbidden categories are published on the marketplace pages and in the seller office — that is, behind the robot check.
The only thing that can be said from the open source: the company puts the platform's assortment at more than 200 million product items, meaning the catalogue covers a broad range of categories. Operating separately are Uzum Avto — a service for buying and selling cars with roughly 300 partner dealers, and also Uzum Tezkor — delivery from cafés, restaurants and shops, more than 3000 partners in 26 cities. These are separate products with their own rules, not sections of the marketplace.
How to grow
We were unable to check the ranking mechanics, the advertising formats and the promotion tools inside Uzum Market — they are described in sections closed to us.
What is visible from outside: a seller's growth on this platform is determined largely not by an algorithm but by infrastructure. The company stresses that it is developing its own logistics across the country, creating new opportunities for entrepreneurs, and that more than half of orders go through Uzum Nasiya instalments. For a seller that means: the availability of your goods on instalments and the speed of delivery to the regions are factors comparable in weight to any promotion.
One more infrastructure detail the company tells about itself: air-quality sensors have been installed at Uzum Market pickup points in the regions — that is, the pickup point network is large enough to serve as a base for an urban sensor network.
Path to monetization
Uzum is a trading platform, not a media platform: it does not pay authors. A seller's income is the revenue from sales minus the platform's fees.
The size of the commission, the logistics tariffs, the payout terms and the times for transferring money to the seller are published in the seller office, which at the time of our check was closed off by a robot check. We cannot name a single figure on the fees and will not invent any.
An indirect guide to the ecosystem's money turnover, which the company discloses itself: Uzum Bank's payment turnover for 2025 was 11.1 billion dollars, and the volume of instalment lending issued by Uzum Nasiya for the same year was 1.2 billion dollars. These are the figures of the bank and the instalment service, not the marketplace's revenue, and they cannot be carried over to trading volume.
Tools and automation
We found no public API documentation for Uzum: there is no developer section on the corporate site, and the seller.uzum.uz subdomain, where such documentation usually lives, is closed off by a robot check.
Of the tools confirmed by a source, only Uzum Business — an app and platform for entrepreneurs bringing together the ecosystem's services is known. What exactly it includes for a marketplace seller — product management, statistics, finances — does not follow from the open description.
We found no third-party scheduling or analytics services whose support for Uzum is confirmed by a source.
Limits and rules
The platform's rules — the seller contract, the public offer, the requirements for goods, the procedure for blocking — are placed on uzum.uz and in the seller office. Both answered our requests with a robot check, and we did not circumvent it. So this section is honestly empty: we cannot quote a single Uzum rule.
The only restriction recorded by an open source is geographical: all of the company's activity is described as operating in Uzbekistan, and there are no signs of cross-border trade or of accepting sellers from other countries on the corporate site.
Who it's for
It suits entrepreneurs working in Uzbekistan and oriented to the domestic market: the platform reports 17 thousand sellers and 20 million monthly users of the ecosystem, and its own logistics take delivery to the regions off the seller's hands.
It especially suits goods in the mid and high price range: more than half of orders are paid for in instalments, and that shifts buyer behaviour towards more expensive purchases.
It does not suit you if you run a business outside Uzbekistan: we found no signs that foreign sellers are accepted. Nor does it suit those who need to assess the terms in advance: to learn the commission and the listing requirements you will have to register — publicly this information is unavailable to an outside reader without signing in.
