Speechify
Tool · this deep dive is built from the official pages of the platform itself and of the tools that support it.
Overview
Speechify is two different bundles of products under one name, and confusing them is not worth doing: their prices, capabilities and purpose are different.
The reader. Voicing of text, PDFs, documents and web pages. Applications for iPhone, iPad, Android, Mac and Windows, extensions for Chrome and Edge, "AI Podcasts", voice input ("Voice Typing Dictation").
The studio. Speechify Studio is described as "The all-in-one Voice & Video Shop". It includes "Voice Cloning — Create high quality AI clones of human voices within seconds", the off-screen voice "Voice Over", "AI Video Studio", dubbing ("Dubbing"), captions ("Studio Captions") and an API.
For a catalogue of social networks Speechify is fit by its second part: the first solves the opposite task — not to create sound for the public, but to read aloud to you.
Which platforms it works with
Social networks are not among what is announced — what are listed are devices, browsers and stores. Applications: iPhone and iPad, Android, Mac, Windows, a web application. Extensions: Chrome and Edge. Separately announced is an API. With the Premium plan there are declared the links "Google Drive, Dropbox, Microsoft OneDrive Integrations" — that is access to your files, not publishing. Export straight to social networks is not announced.
Pricing
The main gap is here. The prices of the studio — that is, of the very voicing for the sake of which the tool gets into the catalogue — on the general pricing page are not announced.
What is on it: the Premium plan (marked "MOST POPULAR") — "$29 /Month". Above the table there is a switch "Monthly / Yearly" with the words "SAVE 60%", but the annual value is not output in the markup: the discount is announced, the sum is not. Instead of the studio's prices there are links "Speechify Studio" and "Speechify API" with the note "Looking for other Speechify products?". A separate pricing page for the studio at the expected address speechify.com/studio/pricing/ does not exist — it answers 404.
The upshot: 29 dollars a month is the price of the reader; the prices of the voicing and the voice cloning are not announced.
What is free
A Free plan is announced, but a price in its column is not entered at all. What it includes: "Listen at speeds up to 1.5x"; "Listen anywhere"; "10 robotic sounding voices" — ten voices, called by the tool itself "robotic sounding"; "Text to speech features only" — only the capabilities of speech synthesis.
The last line is the boundary: studio capabilities on the free plan are not there — neither voice cloning, nor dubbing, nor the video studio.
Restrictions
Quantitative bounds the tool does not announce at all. On the pricing page there are neither characters, nor minutes, nor a number of uploads. With Premium qualitative values are listed — "1000+ high quality, natural voices", "60+ different languages", "Listen at 5x faster speeds" — but not one bound on consumption. How many hours of voicing are included in the subscription the tool does not name.
There are no requirements in the terms to mark what a machine has created: neither an obligation to label, nor the word "watermark", nor a mention of C2PA. The nearest in sense is the ban on "use of the Services to create deceptive or misleading voice clones without the explicit consent of the individual whose voice is being replicated", but that is about faking, not about marking.
Rights to the output
Here comes a surprise, and for a tool selling voicing a serious one: about the rights to what is created the terms are silent. Moreover, the licence to the tool itself is given in personal non-commercial terms: "Speechify grants you… a limited, non-exclusive, nontransferable, revocable license to stream, download and make personal non-commercial use of the Services for which you have subscribed". The reservation "for which you have subscribed" refers this to a paid subscription as well.
A separate permission for commercial use of the voicing created is not in the terms. The rights to the output of generation they do not stipulate at all: neither ownership, nor transfer, nor a ban. Whoever is going to voice clips for sale should clarify the point before payment.
Do they train on your data
In the terms the word "train" is not there at all. The privacy policy speaks of training in one place, and that place is about Google: "Data from Google Workspace APIs… We do not use it to train generalized AI/ML models". About everything else uploaded — your text, your files, samples of your voice — there is no such statement.
There is only a general reference to reviewing material "to improve our algorithms as described in the User Content section of our Terms of Service". Improving algorithms is not the same as training models. A possibility of opting out is not described. About everything except Google's data the documents contain neither a permission nor a ban.
How you earn with it
About the rights to what is created the terms say nothing: neither about ownership, nor about transfer, nor about permission to sell — unexpected for a tool that sells voicing.
Moreover, the licence to the tool itself is described in personal non-commercial terms: "Speechify grants you… a limited, non-exclusive, nontransferable, revocable license to stream, download and make personal non-commercial use of the Services for which you have subscribed". The reservation "for which you have subscribed" refers this to a paid subscription as well — personal non-commercial use is named for the payer too.
It is worth knowing about the counter-licence in the same terms: the user gives the tool an "irrevocable, perpetual, non-exclusive, royalty free, worldwide license to use, telecast, copy, perform, display, edit, distribute and otherwise exploit the User Material". It is irrevocable and perpetual.
Differences by plan the terms do not draw in this part. Whoever is going to voice clips for sale should clarify the question of rights before payment: the terms give no answer to it.
What it will not do
It will not show the price of voicing in advance: the pricing page shows the reader, the studio and the API have no prices on it, and a separate pricing page for the studio at the expected address does not exist — 404. The annual sum it will not name either: the discount is announced, the value is not output in the markup.
It will not give studio capabilities free of charge: on Free there is only speech synthesis with ten "robotic sounding" voices. To count how much voicing is included in the subscription it will not allow: the limits are announced neither in characters, nor in minutes, nor in uploads.
The right to commercial use of the voicing created it will not confirm: the terms are silent about the rights to the output, and the licence to the tool they describe as personal non-commercial use. About training on your files and voice samples it will say nothing, except the exception for Google Workspace data, and it will not offer an opt-out. It will not publish to social networks itself.
It will not allow cloning of someone else's voice without consent: deceptive and misleading clones without the explicit consent of the person are directly forbidden.
Verified data
The checked data this deep dive rests on.
About the platform
two product bundles. The reader: reading out text, PDFs, documents and web pages, apps for iPhone, iPad, Android, Mac, Windows, extensions for Chrome and Edge, "AI Podcasts", voice input ("Voice Typing Dictation"). The studio ("Speechify Studio", "The all-in-one Voice & Video Shop"): "Voice Cloning — Create high quality AI clones of human voices within seconds", "Voice Over — Create human-quality voice overs in real time with AI", "AI Video Studio", dubbing ("Dubbing"), captions ("Studio Captions"), and an API as well
it fits the catalogue by its second part — voice-over, voice cloning and dubbing

60+ languages. On the pricing page the Premium plan claims «60+ different languages» and «1000+ high quality, natural voices». In the FAQ block of the text-to-speech page, verbatim: «You can convert text to speech in 60+ languages, including English, Spanish, French, German, Hindi, Portuguese, Chinese, Japanese, and Arabic, with multiple regional accents like American, British, Australian, and Indian English». Russian is present in the language selector on the same page. So all four languages critical to the catalogue — Russian, Arabic, Hindi and Chinese — are supported. A DIFFERENCE BY PLAN: the free plan gets «10 robotic sounding voices» and «Text to speech features only», while the 60+ languages and 1000+ voices are claimed for Premium
the /text-to-speech/ page is not closed in robots.txt; the count «60+» matches on two of the service's pages — /pricing/ and /text-to-speech/

Premium (marked "MOST POPULAR") — "$29 /Month"; above the table there is a "Monthly / Yearly" switch with the label "SAVE 60%", but the annual figure is not output in the page markup; separately the page carries the links "Speechify Studio" and "Speechify API" with the note "Looking for other Speechify products?" — the prices of the studio and the API are not announced on this page, and there is no separate studio pricing page at https://speechify.com/studio/pricing/ (404)
the currency is US dollars; the price of the studio, and that is precisely the voice-over part, is missing from the general pricing page

Restrictions
Terms of Service §4.2: it is forbidden (f) to use the service in breach of the law; (g) to «use the Services to impersonate any other person, conduct yourself in an offensive manner, or for any immoral or harmful purpose»; (k) among other things, spam and mailings, collecting others' personal data without consent, to «carry out any unlawful, invasive, infringing, defamatory, or fraudulent activity», to transmit content that «harasses, threatens, or harms individuals or groups», and verbatim «(vii) use of the Services to create deceptive or misleading voice clones without the explicit consent of the individual whose voice is being replicated», «(viii) publish or share content that incites violence or promotes hate based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or any other characteristic». §7 requires User Material not to be «illegal, obscene, defamatory, threatening, pornographic, harassing, hateful, racially or ethnically offensive» and not to use the image of anyone under 18, and for those over 18 only with their consent. The service's key restriction is cloning a real person's voice without their express consent. There are no direct bans on politics or medical advice
ToS §6.5 refers to a separate Acceptable Use Policy, but its page could not be found on the site (/acceptable-use-policy/ and /aup/ were checked — 404, and it is not in the sitemap either), so the list was assembled from the Terms of Service themselves; hence partial

the terms are silent about the rights to what is created; moreover, the licence to the tool itself is given thus: "Speechify grants you… a limited, non-exclusive, nontransferable, revocable license to stream, download and make personal non-commercial use of the Services for which you have subscribed"; the terms contain no separate permission for commercial use of the voice-over that is created
the unexpected part: the subscription is described as personal non-commercial use, while the terms do not stipulate any rights to what is created
