Riverside
Tool · this deep dive is built from the official pages of the platform itself and of the tools that support it.
Overview
Riverside describes itself like this: "Riverside is your online studio for high-quality podcast and video recording and editing. Powered by AI, built for human conversations. Get started for free" (home page). This is a self-description, not an independent assessment.
The purpose reads off that phrase unambiguously: recording and editing podcasts and video — a studio for a conversation, not an instrument for running feeds. Towards social networks the tool turns one side only — going out to a live stream, which is dealt with below.
About the address: the old domain riverside.fm answers with a redirect (301) to riverside.com. If you still have links to .fm, they work, but they lead to the new address.
The interface language of the home page is English; the markup declares two language versions — German and English.
Which platforms it works with
The list of platforms is taken from the live streaming page and relates precisely to broadcasting: YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn, TikTok, Instagram, X, Twitch. Beyond that list an arbitrary output over the RTMP protocol is declared — that is, you can specify your own receiver if the platform you need is not in the list.
Here it is important not to substitute one thing for another. The seven named platforms are destinations to which the tool sends a stream. The tool claims no post scheduling, no work with comments and no account statistics on those platforms. The line "Riverside works with TikTok" without the qualification "in streaming mode" would be incorrect.
What is free
The only thing the source says about money is the invitation on the home page: "Get started for free". Free entry is thus announced by the tool.
How you earn with it
The affiliate programme is announced as the Riverside Affiliate Program. The working address is /affiliate-program; there is also a /partners page.
The commission is worded with a ceiling but without a ladder: "Earn up to 20% revenue for every subscription". "Up to twenty per cent" is an upper bound, and the conditions for reaching it and the breakdown by tier are not disclosed on the page. How much an ordinary participant will get does not follow from the source.
The repeatability of the credits is described just as incompletely: monthly payouts are announced, but for how long the credits run for one client you bring in the page does not say. "We pay monthly" and "we pay for every month of the referral's subscription" are different statements, and the second is not in the source.
Here it is worth noting a divergence between the tone of the page and its content. In place of a payout threshold it carries the phrase "No delays, no small print". But precisely those details that are usually printed in small print (the threshold, the lifetime of the tag, the method of withdrawal, the duration of the credits) are not on the page. We do not assert that the terms are hidden; we say that the promise of transparency is not backed up by the terms themselves.
Who is admitted — the wording is broad: "Creators, educators, agencies, anyone with an audience". Registration takes about three minutes, there are no fees.
There is no separate page with the programme's terms: the footer holds only the general terms of service.
What it will not do
Riverside will not be a social network scheduler: the only thing the source links with the platforms is sending out a live stream. Scheduled publishing, work with comments and profile statistics are not credited to the tool.
The programme cannot name you your rate before you join: only the upper limit "up to 20%" is announced, and what the actual percentage depends on is not stated.
Nor will it promise income for the whole lifetime of a client you bring in — there is no such condition on the page; it is said only that payouts arrive once a month.
