Overview

Restream is a tool for simultaneous broadcasting to several platforms. Its arrangement is easiest to understand from the unit of charging: here one pays not for accounts and not for publications but for the number of channels of simultaneous broadcasting (the pricing page).

The interface language of the homepage is English, and here a reservation is needed: only the language of the page itself is confirmed. The site does not declare hreflang and contains no language switcher, so the presence of other language versions has not been established.

Separately about the documentation. What lies at the address developers.restream.io/docs cannot be established: the server serves one and the same shell of the application to any address, including a deliberately invented one. Those conclusions are withdrawn.

Which platforms it works with

The list is taken from the help centre, from the article "Supported Social Platforms" (the tool's help centre). This is the longest list of platforms among the tools checked — thirty positions:

Its composition differs from the usual set of schedulers: next to Facebook and YouTube stand the Chinese Bilibili, Douyu, Huya and Zhanqi.tv, the Korean KakaoTV, Naver TV and SOOP, the Japanese FC2 Live.

Over and above the list the tool supports arbitrary channels by the Custom RTMP, SRT, HLS and WHIP protocols — that is, a platform not named in the list may be connected by hand if it accepts a stream by one of them.

The homepage restream.io is an application without links in the HTML; the same list is published on the page restream.io/integrations/.

Pricing

There are five plans (the pricing page): Free — 0, Standard — 19, Professional — 49, Business — 239 USD a month, Enterprise — on request.

The minimum paid price is 16 USD a month with annual payment (19 USD with month-by-month payment), the Standard plan.

What is free

There is a free plan, and it is permanent (the pricing page): 2 channels of simultaneous broadcasting, and on the image the tool's mark (Restream branding).

That is, one can try broadcasting to two platforms at once without payment, but the viewer will see the tool's mark over the picture.

Restrictions

The plan sets the main thing — the number of simultaneous channels (the pricing page): the free one — 2, Standard — 3, Professional — 5, the next — 8, further by agreement.

The plan also sets the quality. Full 1080p resolution and 4K recording appear only from the third plan. On the senior plan there are named 1,000 viewers of the player and 2 seats in the team.

From this follows a thing worth checking before payment: if 1080p is needed, the junior plans will not do, regardless of the number of platforms.

How you earn with it

A programme is announced: the Restream Referral Program, the account at the address app.restream.io/referrals (the page of the programme). The addresses /affiliate, /affiliates, /affiliate-program and /partners answer with code 404. The terms are fixed not by a separate document but by section 9 of the user agreement.

Three key numbers of the programme are named differently in the help centre and in the agreement. The contradiction is shown here in full — it is the main thing one needs to know about this programme.

*The rate.* The help centre and the landing page: 10 USD for a referred client who has paid for a subscription, and 10 USD of credit to the invited one. The user agreement, clause 9.4: 19 USD for a monthly paid plan and 49 USD for an annual one. Which document is out of date — the agreement under new sums or the reverse — is nowhere explained.

*The payout threshold.* The help centre: "Once you reach a $5 balance, you can request and withdraw your earnings". The agreement, clause 9.6: "A Referral Affiliate may request a cash-out after accumulating $50 USD in Referral Credits". The difference is tenfold.

*The method of payout.* The help centre: the payouts go through Dub and Stripe, in most countries to a bank account, PayPal — only where Stripe is unavailable. The agreement, clause 9.6: payment on request through PayPal.

What coincides and is therefore more reliable. The commission is one-off: for every referred client, and for subsequent upgrades of the plan by the same client nothing is accrued (clause 9.5). The accrual arrives on the balance after 30 days. The credits expire a year after the accrual.

The lifetime of the click tag is not named; in its place another condition applies — the referred person must remain a subscriber for at least two billing periods.

Any subscriber of the tool may take part. The link is allowed to be published only on one's own pages. Forbidden are mailings without consent, automatic mailings and the paid placement of the link on commercial sites — coupon sites, Reddit and Wikipedia are named outright — and in blogs (clauses 9.2 and 9.3).

What it will not do

More than two channels at once on the free plan it will not give, and the tool's mark it will not remove from the picture on it. Full 1080p resolution and 4K recording will not be there at all on the two junior plans — however many channels may be enough for you.

To a partner it will accrue nothing for an upgrade of the plan by an already referred client: they pay once, for the first one. Nor will it accrue for a client who unsubscribes earlier than two billing periods. The accumulated credits will not wait for ever — they expire after a year.

To place the affiliate link for money on other people's commercial sites, including on Reddit and in Wikipedia, the programme forbids; mailings without consent and automatic mailings too.

Further on comes what the sources say differently or are silent about.

To name one number for the rate, one payout threshold and one method of withdrawal is impossible: the help centre and the user agreement diverge on all three. Until one applies to support there is nothing on which to count income from this programme.

The lifetime of the click tag is not named.

What the tool's programming interface can do has not been established: at the address of the documentation the shell of the application is served, the same for any request, and the content of the sections cannot be read from there.

Language versions of the site are not declared: only the English language of the page itself is confirmed.
