IFTTT

Tool · this deep dive is built from the official pages of the platform itself and of the tools that support it.

Overview

IFTTT is a tool for linking applications to one another: it does not run social networks itself, it connects other people's tools into chains. This is how it describes itself: "IFTTT connects 1,000+ apps and automates them for free — no code needed. Connect Google, Webhooks, Discord, Telegram, Slack and more in minutes" (homepage). That self-description is the tool's own claim about itself, not an independent assessment, and the figure "1,000+" belongs to it as well.

The interface language of the homepage is English; the language is taken from the markup attribute, and the markup declares no other language versions (homepage).

The site is prepared to be read by programs: there is a machine-readable index llms.txt of 6813 characters. The length is our own measurement on the date of the check, not a claim by the tool, and it changes along with the documentation. The file by itself says nothing about the product's capabilities — only about how the site is arranged.

Which platforms it works with

The IFTTT catalogue of services has a "Social media" section, and it has been read in full: 33 entries taken from the page markup (the attribute data-category=Social media) — catalogue.

The list as it stands on the page: Arattai, Bitly, Bluesky, Buffer, BulkPublish, CodeQR - Link and QR Analytics, Discord, Disqus, dondeEsta Family, Facebook, Facebook Pages, Fleep, Foursquare, GroupMe, Hopscotch Social Media Management, Instagram, Inventor, LINE, LinkedIn, Lnk.Bio, Mastodon.social, mui, Pinterest, Reddit, Routee, SMS & Text-To-Speech by seven, Spoki, Telegram, Threads, TikTok, woopla phone calls, X (Twitter), Zoho Cliq (Europe).

This list must not be read as a list of supported platforms. Some of the entries are third-party tools, not platforms: Bitly and Lnk.Bio work with links, Buffer, BulkPublish and Hopscotch are schedulers themselves, CodeQR counts click-throughs. This is a catalogue section, and it names what IFTTT can connect to, all mixed together — platforms and intermediary tools alike.

What exactly IFTTT can do with each of these entries — publish, read, respond to an event — the sources we checked do not say.

What is free

The only thing known about being free is the tool's own words in the description of the homepage: "automates them for free" (homepage). This is a marketing wording from the self-description, not analysed plan terms: there are no plans, no prices and no boundaries of the free tier in the sources we checked.

How you earn with it

IFTTT does have an affiliate programme, but its terms are closed. The address ifttt.com/referral is available only after signing in to an account: it redirects to the sign-in page https://ifttt.com/join?return_to=%2Freferral. There are no public terms. Neighbouring addresses — /affiliate, /affiliates, /affiliate-program, /referral-program — return 404.

The size of the commission has not been checked. The separate partners page is a free technology partner programme, that is, about integrating your own tool into IFTTT; no money commission for a referred customer is announced on it. It should not be confused with the referral programme: these are different things, and the second one cannot be read from the outside.

What it will not do

Reading the terms of the referral programme before registering will not work: the section is closed behind an account sign-in. Neither the rate, nor the lifetime of the click tag, nor the payout threshold is publicly available.

You cannot earn on the technology partner programme — at least, the tool announces no such possibility: the /partners page describes a free integration partnership, not a commission.

There are no plans, no boundaries of the free tier and no daily limits in the sources we checked — which is why this deep dive has no sections on pricing and on restrictions at all.

The markup declares no language versions other than English. That too is the silence of the markup: it does not prove that the interface exists only in English.
