سروش (Soroush)
Platform · this deep dive is built from the official pages of the platform itself and of the tools that support it.
Overview
سروشپلاس (Soroush Plus) is an Iranian messenger that, besides messaging, offers channels, a recommendation feed, a video service and payment features. The developer is named on the company page: Setak-e Hooshmand-e Sharif JSC (شرکت ستاک هوشمند شریف), trading under the Soroush Plus brand, has been working since 1397 in the solar calendar with the backing of a private investor; the product was built by graduates of Sharif University of Technology. The year 1397 corresponds to 2018–2019 in the Gregorian calendar.
The platform describes itself like this: "The Soroush Plus messenger with more than 35 million users, with private and group chats, channels, file sharing, cloud storage, fully encrypted voice and video calls, earning opportunities for channel owners and dozens of other useful features".
For a social media manager there are three things to build on here: the channel as a broadcast format with a verification procedure, the paid "Pro" subscription for active administrators, and advertising sold through a single appointed agency. The platform does not describe any programming interface for bots on its open pages.
Who's here
Here the platform contradicts itself, and that is worth recording. The home page reports more than 35 million users, while the company page reports more than 36 million registered users. Different pages of the same site, both figures undated; which one is more recent is not stated. Note the difference in wording as well: the second case is specifically about registered users, not active ones.
On the same page the platform gives two more estimates of its own: a rating of 4.2 in the Android app store and a statement that the new architecture raised the messenger's scalability to 200 million users. The latter is technical capacity, not audience; the two numbers must not be confused.
The geography is Iran: the site, the documents and support are in Persian, and an English version of the site exists. The terms of use require compliance with the computer crimes law and the list of criteria for criminal content under article 21 of that law — that is, with Iranian legislation.
Getting started
Registration is minimal in terms of data: only a mobile phone number is used at registration — to send a one-time password and create an account; no other information is required. The other permissions (location, microphone, storage, contacts, camera, notifications) are requested separately, and without them the messenger works, but some features will be limited.
Platforms: Android 4 and above, plus a web version and a PWA that can be installed as an app on a computer, a tablet and an iPhone. The platform makes a point of saying that the versions work on several devices at once.
There is no separate business account with document checks at the door. Public work starts with an ordinary channel, and the role of "business" status is played by two things: channel verification and the paid "Pro" subscription.
Verification: the "blue check"
This is the platform's most thoroughly described process. The mark goes to channels of legal entities — organisations, companies, officially operating brands — and channels of well-known individuals: artists, athletes, politicians, public figures with a noticeable presence in the media.
The requirements for the channel itself are given as numbers: at the time of review the channel must have at least 500 members, be active and updated — no more than two weeks since the last activity — and publish regularly over the course of a week.
Timings and consequences are named too: review takes no more than two working weeks; on refusal you can object and send further documents, and then the process may take up to a month.
What you can publish
The formats are listed on the company page: text, voice and video messages, sending files up to 500 MB, free voice and video calls, creating groups and channels with management tools, permanent storage of files and messages in the cloud, live streams, a film and series service, the Postchin feed and Bebino. On the home page the cloud is described even more generously: unlimited personal space for storing images, video, documents and notes with no size limit and with unlimited history.
Note the contradiction in the file limit: the company page names 500 MB, while the blog post about the "Pro" version speaks of an increase in upload size from 200 MB to 1 GB. Three different values on two pages of the same site; which one applies now the platform does not explain.
Limits on content are formulated through the law: publishing any material requires compliance with the applicable rules, including the computer crimes law and the list of criteria for criminal content. It is separately stipulated that responsibility for what is published lies with those who publish it, not with the platform, and that use of the Soroush+ logo or of the names of official accounts (support, reports) by third parties is treated as a violation and a forgery — such accounts are deleted and, where necessary, referred to the judicial authorities.
The platform lists users' rights as well: to run a lawful business, including by creating channels and groups or placing advertising in them, with obtaining the necessary permits being the user's own responsibility.
How to grow
The platform describes organic mechanics sparingly. Two feeds are named on the home page: Postchin — a selection based on the topics you have chosen, reachable in one tap — and the "showcase", a section of entertainment content. Exactly how posts are picked for these feeds the platform does not explain: there is no description of the algorithm on the open pages.
Advertising is sold, but not self-service. In July 2025 (30 Tir 1404) the platform announced: the سنبوک (Sanbuk) agency has become the exclusive seller of advertising for the Soroush Plus messenger; the arrangement was made to optimise ad placements and improve service quality, and advertising is to be booked at sanbuk.com/sp-order. We opened that page: it holds an application form with a name, phone number and description, the agency's contact numbers and its address in Tehran. There are no formats, rates or minimum budget on the page.
The platform does not describe built-in channel statistics on its open pages.
Path to monetization
The platform mentions earnings for channel owners twice. In its self-description: "earning opportunities for channel owners". And on the home page, in the features block: "Equip your business with a payment service and earn without hassle".
These formulations make clear that this is not a share of the platform's advertising revenue but built-in payment acceptance: you sell something to your audience and the messenger supplies the payment tool. No rates, commissions, payout thresholds or channel requirements are published on the open pages.
The platform does have a paid product of its own, but in it the user is the one paying. The "Pro" version is described in a blog post dated 18 Mordad 1404 (August 2025): it removes ad display, raises the upload size from 200 MB to 1 GB with no limit on the number of files, gives a separate badge next to the username visible in chats, increases the number of stories and allows 4 additional accounts to be added. The same post says who it was made for: professional administrators of shops and news channels and active content authors. The platform does not name the price of the subscription in that post.
Tools and automation
The platform does not describe any official programming interface for bots on the pages we checked: there is no developer section in the site navigation and we found no documentation. The only bot mentioned directly is the service bot @support, through whose menu a verification application is filed.
A tool for installing applications inside the messenger does appear to exist, judging by the privacy policy: among the permissions requested is permission to install applications in the messenger's environment — for installing programs in the Soroush Plus space. What those programs are, who publishes them and on what terms, the open pages do not explain.
We found no third-party scheduling or analytics services with confirmed Soroush Plus support. The only confirmed external partner is the advertising agency Sanbuk.
Limits and rules
- Verification. At least 500 members, activity no older than two weeks, regular posts over the course of a week.
- Who is not entitled to the mark. Channels previously blocked for breaking the rules have no right to the mark; the mark is not issued to purely content-based and shop channels.
- How long the mark lasts. One year; at expiry, renewal or withdrawal is decided by the state of the channel. The mark is not permanent, the platform can remove it at any moment, it cannot be transferred to another channel, and if the name, identifier, avatar or owner changes materially the procedure has to be gone through again.
- What the mark means. Only confirmation of the channel owner's identity — in no way an endorsement of the content published.
- Data at registration. The phone number only.
- Law. Iranian: the computer crimes law and the list of criteria for criminal content.
- Responsibility. The publisher answers for what is published.
Who it's for
It suits projects with an Iranian audience that need a channel and a clear procedure for confirming authenticity. The verification bar here is one of the most transparent among Iranian messengers: the minimum channel size, the requirement for recent posts, the review times and the grounds for withdrawal are all stated.
It suits administrators of shops and news channels: the "Pro" subscription removes advertising, raises the upload limit and adds accounts — a set aimed at exactly this role, as the platform itself acknowledges.
It does not suit developers: the platform has no open Bot API. It does not suit those who need to buy advertising themselves: sales go through a single agency and by application. And it does not suit projects that need documented monetization: earnings are promised, but the terms, commissions and thresholds are published nowhere.
