n8n
Tool · this deep dive is built from the official pages of the platform itself and of the tools that support it.
Overview
n8n is a platform for automating workflows. The self-description on the homepage: "n8n is a workflow automation platform that uniquely combines AI capabilities with business process automation, giving technical teams the flexibility of code with the speed of no-code". This is the tool's own claim about itself, not an independent assessment.
For our catalogue what matters is that n8n is not a scheduler for posts and not an analytics tool. Social networks get into it the same way as mail, chats and CRM: as separate nodes out of which a process is assembled. It is addressed, by its own wording, to technical teams.
The interface language of the homepage is en. There is a machine-readable index llms.txt on the site, but it is very short: 1,154 characters on the date of the check. This is our own measurement, not a claim by the tool. For comparison with the other tools in the catalogue — one of the smallest such files, and there is no information about platforms in it.
Which platforms it works with
The platforms of n8n have to be counted not from one list but from two, and they are arranged differently.
The first is the catalogue of nodes. These twelve platforms have their own node pages in the catalogue of integrations, and all of them answer: Facebook Graph API, X (Formerly Twitter), LinkedIn, YouTube, Reddit, Mastodon, Medium, Telegram, Discord, WhatsApp Business Cloud, Pinterest, Line. The names are taken from the titles of the pages themselves.
Here too is an important absence, verified by a direct request: the addresses /integrations/instagram/, /tiktok/, /bluesky/, /vk/ and /twitch/ return 404. There are no separate nodes for these five platforms in the catalogue.
The second list is the "Communication" category, and it is incomplete by the arrangement of the page itself. The category page announces 306 integrations, but only the first fifty by popularity get into the markup, the rest are loaded page by page. This is a lower bound, not a full list. Those fifty include Gmail, Slack, Telegram, Discord, Microsoft Teams, WhatsApp Business Cloud, LinkedIn, Reddit, Zoom, Line, Matrix, Mattermost, RocketChat, Zulip, Salesforce, Zoho CRM, Zendesk, Mailchimp, Brevo, Mailgun, Mailjet, SendGrid, Twilio, ClickUp, Typeform, Jotform, Customer.io and other tools for mail, chats and keeping track of clients.
Pricing
Only the names of the lines are known — they come by a roundabout route, through the affiliate programme page, which lists what a commission is paid for and what it is not.
From there it is visible that n8n has the cloud plans Starter and Pro, Enterprise licences and a self-hosted Community Edition. How much any of these lines costs, what is included in them and how they differ, the source does not report.
How you earn with it
An affiliate programme is announced: the n8n Affiliate Program, the application and the account are on PartnerStack (programme page). Separately from it there exist /partners/ for implementers and /sap-partnership/ — these are other directions, not the referral one.
The commission is 30% from all sales to a referred client over twelve months. The crediting is recurring, but with a hard edge: the year has passed — the payouts stop.
They do not pay for everything. The commission runs only from the cloud plans Starter and Pro. The self-hosted Community Edition and the Enterprise licences are not rewarded at all — that is, the most noticeable way of using n8n is not subject to payment to the affiliate.
Payouts are once a month and only on balances from 100 EUR: "we issue payouts once a month, and only on balances of EUR 100 or more". The payout method is the only one — PayPal, a working account is needed.
The application is open to everyone, but approval is required. Paid advertising is forbidden and leads to exclusion; the tool reserves the right to close an account for bad-faith behaviour. The lifetime of the click tag is not named on the page. There is no separate document with the terms — the rules are set out on the programme page itself.
What it will not do
n8n has confirmed refusals, and they are exact.
There are no separate nodes for Instagram, TikTok, Bluesky, VK and Twitch in the catalogue: all five addresses return 404. This is a check by request, not a guess.
There will be no affiliate money for the Community Edition and Enterprise — the programme is limited outright to the cloud Starter and Pro. Paid advertising in the promotion of affiliate links is forbidden. A payout will not come to anything except PayPal, and will not come at all while there is less than 100 EUR on the balance.
The lifetime of the affiliate tag is not named. What exactly each of the twelve nodes can do with a platform — publish, read or only receive events — the source does not describe.

Pricing
The cheapest paid cloud plan is Starter: «20€/mo, billed annually», that is, 20 EUR a month paid yearly. The page shows no monthly price: all four plans are named only with the yearly-billing rate
The currency is the euro, not the dollar. The price is given only in yearly form, so it cannot be compared with a monthly rate: there is simply no monthly option on the page. A monetary fact, shelf life 90 days. There is no «last updated» stamp on the page.

Four plan cards in the order given on the page: Starter — 20 EUR a month paid yearly, 2500 workflow executions a month; Pro — 50 EUR a month paid yearly, 10,000 executions; Business — 667 EUR a month paid yearly, 40,000 executions, self-hosting; Enterprise — price not published, «Contact Sales», executions by agreement. All the paid plans claim «Unlimited users»
The price step between Pro and Business is very large (50 → 667 EUR): these are not neighbouring tiers of one grid but different products, and Business assumes self-hosting.

There is no free plan in the n8n cloud: the pricing page has four cards — Starter, Pro, Business, Enterprise — and none of them costs zero. Separately from the cloud the page names a «Community Edition»: «A standard, self-hosted version of n8n is available on GitHub.»
The distinction is fundamental: you can install n8n on your own server for free, but there is no free plan in the hosted service. The page does not name the price of the Community Edition as a figure, so «zero» here is our inference from context rather than a quotation — it is recorded as the absence of a free cloud plan, not as «there is a free plan».

There is a trial period: 14 days. For Starter and Pro no card is needed — «No credit card is required for Starter and Pro trials.» For Business a card is needed: «When you start a free trial on the Business plan, you'll get full access to all Business features for 14 days.» — 14 days of full access, but with a card. The documentation specifies the outcome: «If you don't upgrade by the end of your trial, the trial automatically expires and n8n deletes your workspace.»
Whether a card is required depends on the plan — a rare case; normally a card is required either always or never. The condition that the workspace is deleted on expiry matters more than the length: 90 days are then given to download the workflows.

You pay for the volume of workflow executions rather than per user or per step. The definition of the unit verbatim: «An execution is a single run of your entire workflow. It doesn't matter how many steps are in the workflow or how much data it processes — it's still a single execution.» The number of users does not affect the price: the paid plans claim «Unlimited users»
This is the direct opposite of Zapier's model, where every successful step is counted. A twenty-step workflow costs n8n one execution and Zapier twenty tasks. When choosing a tool the difference in counting matters more than the difference in plan price. n8n does not sell team seats at all.

The sources disagree about the trial limit. The pricing page: the trial gives Pro features with the Starter plan's limits (that is, 2500 executions). The documentation: «14 days to try all the features of the Pro plan» with a limit of «1000 executions» and Starter-level compute. The number of executions in the trial is named differently: 2500 by the pricing page and 1000 by the documentation
