History depth: how far back you will be able to compare

Analytics tools sell depth of history the same way they sell the number of accounts: on the entry plan data is kept for months, on the top plan for years. The question “will I be able to compare this year with last” is settled by the plan, and it has to be settled before you buy: history cannot be rewound afterwards.

Below is what the tools' own pricing pages say, with a link to the document.

Later

how far back metrics are kept is set by the plan: Starter — up to 3 months, Growth — up to 1 year, Scale — up to 2 years source, checked 2026-07-28

The limit is not on an action but on HOW FAR BACK you can look: on the entry plan a year-on-year comparison is simply impossible

Metricool

how far back metrics go is set by the plan: 30 days on the free plan, unlimited on the paid ones source, checked 2026-07-28

The second case in the registry after Later where the limit is placed on THE PAST rather than on actions

Onlypult

how far back metrics go is set by the plan: 1 month on the entry plan, up to 10 years on the three higher ones source, checked 2026-07-28

The sixth service in the registry with a limit on the past, and the gap here is the sharpest: a month against ten years

LiveDune

the plan sets three values at once: «Блогер» 1900 RUB — 5 accounts, 1 user, 1 year of history; «Бизнес» 3500 RUB — 10 accounts, 2 users, 3 years; «Агентство» 12900 RUB — 100 accounts, 5 users, 5 years source, checked 2026-07-28

The number of accounts grows twentyfold while the depth of history only fivefold: the values are tied to the price in different ways

BuzzSumo

by plan: 199 USD — 1 user and 2 years of history; 299 USD — 5 users and 3 years; 499 USD — 10 users and 5 years; 999 USD — 30 users and 5 years. The prices are for annual billing source, checked 2026-07-28

The values were taken from the summary plan comparison table; the depth of history is the same on the two top plans, what you pay for is the number of users

Mention

data depth — up to 2 years; complex queries with boolean operators of up to 2000 characters are available only on the higher alert type source, checked 2026-07-28

Query length as a limit appears in the registry for the first time

Popsters

the posts analysed are NOT STORED on the server: the data sits in the browser's temporary memory and is wiped when the page is refreshed. The service explains this by saying that otherwise it would have to give up unlimited plans source, checked 2026-07-28

What this means for you: the result of an analysis cannot be retrieved later — it has to be exported straight away

What to do

  1. Decide what period you need to compare before you look at prices. A year-on-year comparison needs at least two years of history, which entry plans usually do not have.
  2. Check what grows together with the price. At LiveDune the number of accounts grows twentyfold when you move to the top plan, while the depth of history grows only fivefold. At BuzzSumo the two top plans have the same depth. At Onlypult the gap is the sharpest: a month on the entry plan against ten years on the rest.
  3. Export the metrics yourself if you are on the entry plan. At Popsters the analysed data is not stored on the server at all and is wiped when the page is refreshed.
  4. Plan the upgrade in advance. History does not appear retroactively: if you move to the top plan a year from now, you get the depth but not the data for the past year, unless the tool was collecting it.
